As the City of Parkland has grown, its schools have grown to meet the needs of the community. There are now three public elementary schools, one public charter school, a middle school, and a high school. There are also several private schools in the area. All of the Parkland schools have A ratings and our high-achieving schools attract many families to Parkland.
The three elementary schools are Riverglades Elementary, Heron Heights Elementary, and Park Trails Elementary. There are multi-age programs, STEAM, and various other specialty programs at each school. After school enrichment programs are also available in sports, music, and the arts.
Westglades Middle School serves students in grades six through eight. From sports to band and debate to community service, there are clubs and activities for the students after school. In 2019, Westglades was the highest-rated middle school in Broward County. High-achieving students also have the opportunity to take high school level courses for credit during their middle school years.
Parkland’s high school is Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. This A-rated high school has renowned sports teams, an award-winning music program, as well as accelerated educational programs. Dual-enrollment through Broward College is also an option for students as well as Advanced Placement. For students interested in business, MSD has one of the largest DECA chapters in the world. Many enriching programs in a variety of disciplines are available to students.
